Welcome to Ken-ichi Kitayama’s Homepage !

I launched my personal homepage as I retired from Osaka University at the end of March 2016.

I’ve been involved in the community of optics & photonics for 40 years.
I started my career as a researcher at the NTT Laboratories in 1974, followed by the Communication Research Laboratory, Ministry of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (presently National Institute of Information and Communications (NICT)) during the period of 1995~1999. In 1999 I moved to Osaka University as the Professor. I’ve been carrying out the researches on optical communications and optical networks throughout my career.

Currently I’ve been active at the following positions at threes institutions. Through these activities I will dedicate myself to make more active and interactive the optics/photonic community and make industry-academia-government collaboration more fruitful than ever.

From June 2015 the Research Supervisor of CREST program of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)
From April 2016 the Project Professor at the Graduate School for the Creation of New Photonics Industries (GPI)
From June 2016 the R&D Advisor of NICT.
